In his statement at the NATO Summit in Strasbourg 4 April, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg announced that Norway will increase its support to Afghanistan by a total of USD 30 million.  The money will be used to train the Afghan army and police with a view to enhancing security and stability in Afghanistan. Ambassador Kim Traavik, together with ambassadors from all NATO-countries, met with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Gurgenidze, Members of Parliament, as well as the extraparliamentary part of the opposition. During the international Kosovo Donors’ Conference in Brussels on 11 July Norway pledged NOK 390 million (about Euro 49 million) for the next three years. This means a 30% increase in Norwegian assistance compared to 2007, making Norway an important bilateral donor for Kosovo.   Les mer
